A Birthday Shout Out to my Baby Sister...

Today is my sister Arin's birthday and she is growing up...26, that's an adult age right, close to my 27. Being so close in age and only a grade apart, I think we were about as close as siblings can get to being twins without actually being twins. I am very lucky to have her around...she has always been an exceptional friend, roommate, confidante, & critic. Thank you for helping me be who I am and for showing me how I can grow and be better. I appreciate your encouragement, advise, & example. I am proud of who you are & the life you have made. And even though you are not always as nice to me as you should be, I will never be able to repay you for the things you have done & still do for me. I am so excited for little Stockton to get here so I can attempt to spoil him like you have spoiled my kids. I treasure all of the memories I have of us growing up together and look forward to creating many more. I hope 26 is a great year. Happy Birthday!

It's funny how you're still goofy looking after all these years!

Ready or not here we go...

So tonight our fun-filled summer is coming to an end. The clothes are laid out, the backpack is ready, and I think I am even feeling a little Back to School Jitters/excitement. That's odd since I am not even the one going to school. Isn't it funny how those feelings come back...like Christmas Eve or something. I am ready to get back into a routine, but it just doesn't seem like school should already be starting again. I will miss the lazy days of summer and having Isac home all day. However I am not sure which one of us is looking forward to no more daily chore lists more, him or me! It has been a daily battle for him to get his jobs finished! Crazy Kid! I just hope we can make it through 5th grade! So are we ready for tomorrow? Probably not. But it's coming, so bring it on...

Here's the big 5th grader on his first day...

Summer is busy...who has time to blog?

I have lots to blog about lately, but just can't seem to come up with the time! We have been working hard on finishing up the bathroom. As of last night we now have an operational toilet & sink. Yeah!!! It is going to be the best room in our house I think. So maybe I will get around to posting our fun summer adventures sometime soon. Life slows down when school starts right? Yeah I didn't think so either.

So for now a funny story I want to remember from Emily. She was playing "baby" with her Curious George. She put one of Mack's diaper on him, got him a bottle & blanket, etc. I said "Oh Emily, you are being such a good mommy to George." She looked at me with scrunched up eyebrows & replied with plenty of Emmy Attitude "I'm not being a MOM! I'm being a DAD!"
DUH. I guess I should have known.

Utah Museum of Natural History

Another fun thing we have done this summer...The Utah Museum of Natural History. I love history so this was an interesting outing for me. Isac is really into dinosaurs so he was excited to see the wealth of dino connections to Utah. They have a large geology exhibit with every kind of rock & gem you could imagine & Emily loved seeing all the "treasures". And as an extra bonus Ryan actually got to come along too.

This was a fun hands-on exhibit.
Emily was very puzzled.

There is also a "digging" area for the kids to search for fossils.

The best part of the trip was this...They have an old school photo booth. You can get these awesome pics for only $1. Ours didn't turn out great but it was fun taking them!!

Admission is free on the 1st Monday of the month (tomorrow). We really enjoyed it and for free it is definitely worth a visit!
